Hey, something interesting for a change!

Sat::

Spent Sat afternoon with [livejournal.com profile] toriru4ever and wanted to check out AnimeFest for her first time. Man, talk about weird. I haven't been to a con in about 2-3 yrs now AND not in costume. I was really surprised on how they changed the whole layout. They put the majority of the AA upstairs on the main floor where the glass doors are that took you to other panel rooms that they never used before (Anna, this was the area where you got yelled at for disrupting those FF's when Katrina hit *lol*). And the space downstairs where the AA used to be, they still had a few tables down there, mostly jewelery and misc type of tables and of course the dealers room, the food section, and the vid rooms were the same. This yr the registration was upstairs too instead of being crammed downstairs like it used to be. It seemed a little easier to move around since they expanded and they used one of the big rooms to hold the autographs in instead of out in the lobby. Looked alot easier to get around that too though of course when we were checking it out, there wasn't much signing going on. I did catch a glimpse of Scott McNeil while we were just standing around in the autograph room but didn't go talk to him.

The weird thing about this yr was there was no band. I guess they were focusing on getting more Japanese guests instead. But sounds like they are working on getting a band for next yr.

After experiencing this since it's been so long, I don't miss it much unless the right ppl are around for it.

We stayed there till 5:30 to kill time till Tei Tei opened up. I guess you could call it a slight hole-in-the-wall Japanese restaurant since it is a small place but once inside, it's not all that bad. Kinda weird where it's located too cause it's near the ritzy area yet right down the street looks run down. I'm glad we got there when they just opened so we'd have a little more time to ourselves w/out feeling rushed and the Japanese guys behind the sushi bar had a little more time to make small talk with us. Mona had a giggle fit over how VERY Japanese their bathroom was. The beef as well as the sushi we ordered was pretty good.

We headed back to her place afterwards and hung out a bit before I stopped by a friend's house where my nephew and his gf were at (it was her dad's place). Of course the majority of the older adults there were drunk off their ass and I came to realize, I'd rather hang out with pot-heads than drunks.

Now I've been around both since I was a kid and my mind still hasn't changed.

Drunks:

Drunk ppl talk WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too damn loud, as if EVERYONE there is hard of hearing (sober or not and I'm sure the WHOLE FUCKING neighborhood heard them speaking too). They REPEAT everything more than TWICE!!! Hell, they'll say one thing and 2 secs later, they'll say it AGAIN! I just shake my head and ignore them when they try to get my attention again. Drunks are always knocking their booze over and even worse if it's in a bottle and have glass shatter everywhere. OR they spill their drink on you. They get into heated arguments over STOOPID SHIT!

Pot-heads:

For the most part, are mellow. Get the munchies. Zone out. Get sleepy. Try to find something productive to do (watch movies, play games, come up with their own freaky things to do) IF they can get off their ass that is. Then realize that it takes too much effort to get up and just smoke some more. Get silly and laugh. I don't think I ever been around pot heads that got into heated arguments.

So yeah, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it!

Sun::

I got home almost 2am after Sat night so I slept in pretty late till almost 9am. Then did much needed housework, dug around for more things to sell for the garage sale and chilled by vegging out on watching the M*A*S*H marathon on a local channel.

Mon::

Spent half the morning at Walmart TRYING to find decent clothes. Thankfully I was able to afford this little shopping spree cause I won a $200 gift card at work two weeks ago. I was nice enough and used half of it on groceries and I told douche bag that the other half I'm using on myself. WHICH after everything I bought, was like $95! So I was pretty surprised I didn't go over my limit.

Again, I HATEHATEHATEHATE shopping for jeans. This time around, I could barely find the ones that I have and then once I did find something similar, it wasn't quite what I wanted. Thankfully though I found 4 pairs of jeans and a pair of pants for work. Sadly, I couldn't find any shirts for work. Something I noticed that Walmart has a bad habit of NOT having on hand is nice shirts. And since I hate clothes shopping in general, I just stuck to shopping there that day and will have to go elsewhere before my trip next month to find some nice tops.

My usual gripeage about jeans:

I can find something that fits BUT apparently, they think that EVERY FUCKING BODY IS TALL!!! I could not find jeans that I wasn't stepping on the bottoms. Even after washing them, they didn't really shrink.

I think I lost a little more not so much with weight but in body size. My jeans came down 2 sizes to a 12 AND the pair of pants I found for work.....a size 10 fit me comfortably!!! X________X I haven't been that size since after I got out of the Army.

One small problem, I think my boobs shrunk a bit. Not so much around my body but my boobs *sobs!!* It's bad enough I don't have much to begin with but I don't need to lose what little I have left. Though it could be worse, I could have DD's (if not higher) that my grandma had. So I thought I would see what kind of new bras I could get. WHY WHY WHY can they not make cup sizes a bit smaller for 40's???!!! Just about anything in a 40 is usually a C and higher. BUT I found one that was a B AND underwire AT THAT and it actually feels comfortable. This time around it seems to mold to my body better than the past ones I wore before.

Now all that I need to focus on is my Nurse!Joker costume for Halloween to take on my trip. I'm hoping to do the shopping for that next weekend. *crosses fingers I can find everything in one spot*

~*~*~

The aftermath of Gustav here in my area of TX, not only have we had high winds for the past two days but TODAY stayed in the mid 70's!!!! Felt like WONDERFUL fall weather but it's not to last long since it's supposed to get hot again by the end of the week. Yesterday was pretty warm but today was better since the clouds stayed and not so much of any sun peeked out today. Plus we didn't get much rain either, maybe a few sprinkles this morning, that was it.

Don't forget to those who would like any non-anime related goods, better speak up now before Fri night.

Re: *LOL*

Yeah, it was a really weird feeling being at Afest w/out the posse! But after seeing what the con was like, the thing that did run in my head was, we would've been TOTALLY bored!!! It just doesn't feel the same like it used to when going to a con. I guess cause alot of things are re-repeated umpteen billion times.

I'm sure we all could've found something to do that wasn't con releated just for the fun itself.

I hope to send you a reply email pretty soon. I feel bad on all the slacking that I feel is going on with me though in some sense, it's not really slacking, it's trying to find time to catch up on things.

*hugs*
