I didn't have time to write everything up on Thurs about Wed. night's concert.

First off, let me say that I WILL NEVER EVER GET ENOUGH OF THIS BAND!!!!!!! They are probably my all time favorite band. I think this makes it 5x's that I've seen them now since '00.

The whole story is beneath the cut.

Bubba decided to take off work too on Wed. Though the only thing that blew my mind that day was, WHERE IN THE HELL DID THE TIME GO??!!! I already had my spring cleaning list typed up and not long after I posted, I was working on responding to everyone till about 10am when [livejournal.com profile] guardianhunter came over and had my much needed massage. Around 12:15 I met bubba for lunch and after that it seemed that time just flew by. Bubba had a bunch of stuff he was working on and I was still responding to ppl about the sale. I told bubba I wanted to leave around 5 just cause of traffic going into Dallas plus we had to stop at BK for something quick to eat and then to the bank. I kinda thought the doors opened at 6:30 but it wasn't till 7:30 so bubba was hauling ass cause of the time we thought we had to be there. We got to the ballroom around 6 and a small amount of ppl were already waiting in line. The majority didn't start showing up till going on 7.

So when they opened up and they scanned your tix, you then had to wait in ANOTHER line (two thank god) where if you were of age, you gave them your ID and they scanned it and put a bracelet on your wrist to prove of age if you wanted booze. If you weren't of age, I guess you just said so and let ya through. I was ahead of bubba so I took off to find a spot to stand in the ballroom. It was pretty funky cause the ballroom had the same set up as Gilley's next door. So I found a decent spot in the back not far from the sound board and had bubba save our spot while I went and got a t-shirt. Thank god they had a variety cause I did NOT want that creepy Russian dude on my shirt. I got the shirt that had the huge type o sign on the front and the tour dates on the back.

As for the actual show: (this is not going to be in order)

The opening band "Brand New Sin" was soso. And "Celtic Frost" fucking sucked! I heard of their name but not of their music. I sat on the floor till they were done.

TON didn't start till around 10:45 and they opened up with the "Magical Mystery Tour" song *rock!*

Here's my dilemma:

I felt this show was a little off. The whole atmosphere felt different than what it usually is at TON shows. Bubba thinks half the crowd left after Celtic was done playing cause the ballroom didn't look overly full once TON came out. TON changed their song set this time and played OLD SKOOL songs from like their 1st and 2nd albums. I haven't heard them play those songs in the 4x's I seen them live. In some ways, maybe that's good cause after awhile, you get kinda tired hearing the same set every tour. They only played 1 from October Rust, 1 from Life Is Killing Me, 3 from Bloody Kisses, 3 from the new album, and of course a few from the older albums that I can't think of the titles right now. (I don't recall any songs from World Coming Down)

What I noticed that changed a bit, at least what I seen in Dallas is, not too many goth ppl like their used to be. Sure there were a handful of them and some freaky punkish ppl but not in the hordes that used to show up.

Peter's voice didn't sound right especially when they first started. I don't know, maybe he was really that drunk. He drank like 2-3 bottles of wine till the show was over (and lord knows how many before the show) and he did mention about "or maybe I'm just drunk." I think the sound system didn't sound all that good for his voice cause it didn't have that deep bass sound to it like before. The whole show didn't seem to have that "pep" like the others did. What was pretty neat was the extra mic. they had setup for special vocal affects that Peter and Kenny used.

Peter wasn't his smarmy self as per norm but he did joke around alittle. One of them being something about taking "180 some yrs and the south shall rise again." The crowd cheered at that till Peter told them what he meant "I'm talking about South Brooklyn duh." And some silly banter between he and Kenny. When they did "Black No.1" and the crowd sang their part (which didn't sound as loud as the LIKM tour at Trees), the crowd was going to keep singing (long past our part) and Peter was like "HEY! It's my turn to sing now!"

When they went to sing "Halloween in Heaven" he said what inspired him to write the song, which was when he heard the news about Dimebag Darrel being shot, he seemed to get pretty choked up just trying to talk about it (he would pause every now and then during his speech). Of course everytime TON is in Dallas, the guys from Pantera would always be there (including Dimebag and minus Phil) and not far from where we were standing, Vinny Paul (P's drummer) was sitting in the little VIP section watching the show.

The first half of the show, Peter had his hair down and the majority of the time you could barely see his face. After they came back from intermission, he finally had it pulled back. The ballroom also had a camera person there (again, not far from where we were standing) and they had a few plasma screens scattered through the area. So above our heads was a tv and every now and then I would look up to see what kind of view the camera was showing. Some pretty nice Peter shots of his face and his crotch *lol* (mostly hidden by the bass though). Peter must've been ill, he wasn't using his chain bass strap like he normally wears, instead he had a normal strap. And this time he wasn't sweating as if someone dumped water on him like he looked during the LIKM tour where the scrubs were just drenched in sweat. He was even wearing a black shirt and jeans this time. I later told bubba it looked like Peter was getting some man-boobs on him but as Bubba pointed out to me, they are mostly muscles than fat. BUT Peter is developing a little belly (maybe during the time he was still on coke, it helped keep that area slimmer *lol*). And he was sitting down a good bit compared to the past shows. Maybe it was the booze or that his age is catching up to him. *laughs*

But either way regardless of how this show was, I'll keep seeing them till they no longer make music.

After experiencing this show at the ballroom, I don't think this was such a great venue for them to play at. I think a reg. club size place would've been better but then again, with alot of stuff that Dallas is doing now in regards to the Deep Ellum area, there won't be anymore clubs like that for bands to play at.

Of course they were pretty strict on the No Cameras (yet camera phones are a-okay *grrrr!*) and No Smoking. Now the no smoking part kills me. Yes, Dallas does have a smoking ban BUT the staff by the sound board and the VIP area were smoking but the security ppl were all over on busting the crowd if they saw someone smoking. Bubba said it was a good thing for the smoking ban cause his eyes weren't watering but my nose did get a bit stuffy near the end cause of some ppl smoking not far from me.

I wasn't able to hang around to see if I couldn't give Kenny (the guitar player) his shirt since the show didn't end till 12:30 and bubba was way tired so we just went ahead and left. Oh well, wasn't able to meet anyone for the yr of my 30th bday but at least I got to see them this yr.

So that's pretty much the gist of the event. And for once, our ears weren't ringing when we left.

I forgot to mention this but "Dead Again" made it to #25 on the charts. Good for them!!

Also, check out Headbangers Ball blog and scroll down a bit for TON's video "Profit of Doom" or catch it on HB April 28th 10pm eastern time on MTV2. HAHAHAHAHA! Peter is the crazy dude in the vid.

Awww, that fucking sucks that they had the strict no camera rule going at your venue! I was hoping that you would be able to get some nice clear pics like last time.

It sounds like a lot of people were there to see Celtic Frost. They were the group I had the hardest time to get into. Most of the time I was cracking up at the guy standing behind me that knew ALL the words and was singing like the lead vocalist. You could tell he was having a hell of a time.

Peter is goofy! That south Brooklyn joke was silly.

Some pretty nice Peter shots of his face and his crotch *lol* (mostly hidden by the bass though).

*LOL* Stupid bass covering the good shots! Hehehe, maybe his age is catching up with him but he's still looking pretty damn good.

I'm sorry to hear that this concert wasn't as good as the other TON concerts you've been to. I hope the next one will be better for you and it won't take them 4 years to come out with a new album.

Yeah, that blew about not being able to take the camera in. There was this guy walking around and just snapping pics of the place and ppl and before ya know it, the security guy was hot on his heels telling him to get rid of it. Being so anal about that is so ridiculious. I never understand why they are so fucking picky about pics for.

I read on a TON place that Peter fell when he came out on stage when you saw them? Were you able to witness that? That would've been funny to see, especially with his tall frame.

Celtic sucked so bad, every time we thought it was the last song, they went and started up another. Earlier into their set, Kenny and Johnny ran out on stage and sang a bit here and there but you could see the TON guys standing off in the back on stage while they were playing. Since they were taking forever to get done with their set, I decided to sit on the floor since standing that long makes me feet and knees hurt.

I just wish Peter was more witty like the other shows I've seen them at. I still can't get over how I was not impressed with the show and that makes me really sad.

Every time they showed a close up of Peter on the tvs, I would just look up and just oggle the shots *lol*

YES! I HOPE TO HELL this band does not take forever and a day just to either release another album or come around the area at least twice. They need to do what Trent has done since he's making up for lost time.

Someone who went to the Dallas show made an entry of a live clip I guess she took with her phone. I wish it sounded a bit better since you can hear other ppl singing around her. Pretty much how you hear Peter sing, is how he sounded throughout the night.
